Food for the Soul -

I have decided to include a food section in this journal simply because what I eat has been a significant part of my journey. My grandmother was seriously diabetic. At that time in the 1950s, medicine was not so forgiving, and they would not think twice before cutting somebody's limb as that was the best and sometimes the only solution to keep them alive. My father, his siblings, and my grandfather witnessed my grandmother’s life slowly being taken away from her, leaving deep scars in their hearts and changing their lives forever. All my uncles, aunts, cousins, and siblings are either diabetics or pre-diabetics. This is not a "be fearful" kind of journal but rather a balanced way to eat and feel happy with your own choices. You will occasionally see a feel-good food recipe that is not exactly directed to any particular diet but is there to remind you that we all need a little Joie de Vivre.
